
The Los Angeles Wildfire Exposure Study (LA-WES) aims to understand how toxic substances and social and economic disruptions from the Palisades and Eaton wildfires affect people’s health over time. The findings will help develop safety guidelines for communities in wildfire-prone areas. Participation is voluntary.

To be eligible, you must:
- Be 18+ years old
- Live in a mandatory or voluntary evacuation zone during the Eaton or Palisades Fires
Study Activities involve:
- Completing a 30-minute survey
- Attending a 40-minute in-person visit to
- Provide urine (1 cup) and blood (2 tablespoons) samples
- Complete a lung function test (15-minutes)
Please note that eligibility to participate does not guarantee you will be selected. If you are selected to participate, a member of the study team will contact you with consent information and to schedule an appointment at UCLA or in the Pasadena area in the coming week(s). Participation is voluntary and you may opt out at any time.
