CHS 43-105, UCLA Center for Health Sciences

Frank Pajonk, MD, PhD
Professor, Division of Molecular and Cellular Oncology, Department of Radiation Oncology, UCLA

About the lecture: In response to moderate to high radiation doses, normal tissues and malignant tumors initiate repair programs that restore tissue integrity or repopulate tumors. The lecture will cover these responses and demonstrate how they can be exploited to mitigate the effect of lethal radiation doses to the intestinal mucosa and to improve survival in models of glioblastoma.

About the speaker: Dr. Pajonk is a Professor of  Radiation Oncology in the Division of Molecular and Cellular Oncology at UCLA. His laboratory’s main interests are the radiobiology of normal stem cells and tumor initiating cells and how to modulated radiation responses in these cells for better tumor control with fewer side effects.
